PANEL 2 — THE SCROLL MOVES FORWARD

Visual:
The Time Scroll glows. The previous image of the unfinished Tower of Babel fades and is replaced by golden grain, stars and a shepherd.

Sam:
“The tower is gone.”

Ezra:
“The Scroll has moved us forward.”

Sam:
“Forward to where?”

Ezra:
“Look.”

PANEL 3 — THROUGH TIME

Ezra places his hand on the central symbol while Sam touches the Scroll's edge. The ancient symbols rotate and a circular golden portal forms around them.

SFX:

WHOOOOSH!

PANEL 4 — CANAAN

Visual:
Ezra and Sam arrive in a warm Canaanite landscape. Sheep graze among rolling hills. Tents are visible in the distance.

Sam:
“Where are we?”

Ezra:
“Somewhere in Canaan.”

Ezra:
“And I think we’ve found our story.”

PANEL 5 — JOSEPH

Visual:
Joseph tends the flock. He wears his distinctive special robe. Ezra and Sam observe from a safe distance.

Sam:
“That’s Joseph, isn’t it?”

Ezra:
“Jacob’s son.”

Sam:
“So what happens to him?”

Ezra:
“Let’s watch.”

PANEL 6 — THE FIRST DREAM

Visual:
Dreamlike golden field. One sheaf of grain stands upright while other sheaves bow toward it.

Caption:
That night, Joseph had a dream.

Joseph:
“What could this mean?”

PAGE 2 — THE PIT

PANEL 7 — ANOTHER DREAM

Visual:
A magnificent night sky. The sun, moon and eleven stars appear symbolically above Joseph.

Caption:
Then Joseph had another dream.

Joseph:
“I saw the sun, the moon and eleven stars bowing down to me.”

PANEL 8 — JEALOUSY GROWS

Visual:
Joseph's brothers listen with increasingly unhappy expressions. Joseph remains unaware of the tension growing around him.

Sam:
“They don’t look happy.”

Ezra:
“They’re jealous of him.”

Sam:
“And the dreams aren’t helping.”

PANEL 9 — JOSEPH IS SENT

Visual:
Jacob speaks to Joseph near the family tents. In the distance, the brothers and their flocks can be seen.

Jacob:
“Go and see if all is well with your brothers and the flocks.”

Joseph:
“I will.”

Small location text:

Canaan — near Shechem

PANEL 10 — “THAT DREAMER!”

Visual:
Joseph approaches from a distance. His brothers see him coming and exchange angry looks.

Brother:
“Here comes that dreamer!”

Another Brother:
“Now we’ll see what becomes of his dreams.”

Ezra:
“This doesn’t feel right.”

PANEL 11 — REUBEN INTERVENES

Visual:
Some brothers move toward Joseph angrily. Reuben steps between them.

Brother:
“Let’s get rid of him!”

Reuben:
“Don’t kill him.”

Reuben:
“Throw him into this empty cistern instead.”

Caption:
Reuben planned to rescue Joseph later.

Sam:
“Reuben is trying to save him.”

PANEL 12 — THE CISTERN

Visual:
Joseph is lowered into a dry, empty cistern. Ezra instinctively steps forward, but Sam catches his arm.

Joseph:
“Why are you doing this?”

Ezra:
“We have to help him!”

Sam:
“Ezra… the Rule.”

Ezra:
“We may witness history…”

Sam:
“…but we may not change it.”

Ezra reluctantly steps back.

PAGE 3 — ROAD TO EGYPT

PANEL 13 — THE CARAVAN

Visual:
A caravan of traders approaches in the distance. Judah and the brothers look toward them.

Brother:
“Look! Traders.”

Judah:
“Why should we kill our brother?”

Judah:
“Let us sell him instead.”

Sam:
“They’re going to sell Joseph.”

Visual note:
Keep the scene serious but non-graphic.

PANEL 14 — JOSEPH LEAVES HOME

Visual:
Joseph is led away with the caravan. He looks back toward his brothers and homeland.

Ezra:
“His dreams sounded full of promise.”

Sam:
“And now he’s being taken away.”

Ezra:
“We can’t see the whole story yet.”

Sam:
“Maybe that’s the point.”

PANEL 15 — EGYPT

Visual:
A sweeping transition into Egypt: the Nile, palm trees, boats, busy markets and Egyptian architecture. Joseph enters the unfamiliar land with the traders.

Caption:
The journey carried Joseph far from home—to Egypt.

Sam:
“Everything is different.”

Ezra:
“A completely different life.”

PANEL 16 — DID YOU KNOW?

Visual:
A clean educational panel. Joseph is shown arriving in Egypt while the background subtly connects Canaan to Egypt.

DID YOU KNOW?

Genesis 37 tells how Joseph’s brothers became jealous of him, threw him into a pit, and sold him to traders traveling to Egypt.

Joseph was later sold to Potiphar, an official of Pharaoh.

WHAT EZRA LEARNED

“We may not see the whole story yet. We can still trust God while the story unfolds.”

PANEL 17 — POTIPHAR

Visual:
Joseph stands before Potiphar in an Egyptian household. Potiphar examines him while Joseph looks uncertain but composed.

Sam:
“So this is where Joseph’s Egyptian journey begins.”

Ezra:
“And we still don’t know where his dreams will lead.”

The Time Scroll glows.

RETURN

SFX:
WHOOOOSH!

PANEL 18 — NEXT JOURNEY

Visual:
Back inside the ancient cave. The Time Scroll displays a new vision:

A small basket floating among the reeds of the Nile, with the faint silhouette of a baby inside.

Ezra and Sam stare at the image.

Sam:
“A basket?”

Ezra:
“On the Nile.”

Sam:
“Ezra… who is that?”

Ezra:
“I think we’re about to find out.”

The Scroll glows brighter.

🎯 Core lesson

The episode does not claim that Ezra knows exactly why Joseph suffers.

Instead, it establishes the recurring idea:

We may not see the whole story yet.

That connects naturally to the Time Scroll concept and allows the later Joseph story to reveal how his journey develops.

👦 Ezra & Sam

Ezra: Curious, empathetic and impulsive.
Sam: Practical, cautious and reminds Ezra of the central Time Scroll Rule.

📜 Time Scroll Rule

You may witness history. You may not change it.

This is now reinforced naturally in Panel 12 without making the boys passive throughout the entire episode.
