Episode Premise

Ezra and Sam are exploring an ancient cave as part of a history assignment when they discover a mysterious parchment hidden behind a stone wall.

It is the Time Scroll.

When Ezra activates it, they are transported to the time of Noah—just before the great flood.

They must discover what is happening, avoid changing history, learn from Noah's faith, and somehow find their way home.

But when they return, the Scroll has already chosen their next destination: Babel.

PANEL 1 — TITLE

EZRA & THE TIME SCROLL

THE ARK BEFORE THE RAIN

Visual: Ezra and Sam standing at the entrance of an ancient cave. Warm sunlight enters behind them while an old parchment glows faintly in Ezra's hands.

PANEL 2 — THE HISTORY ASSIGNMENT

Modern day.

Ezra and Sam are visiting an ancient archaeological site.

Sam carries a notebook.

Sam:
"Our assignment was supposed to be about ancient history."

Ezra looks toward a partially hidden cave entrance.

Ezra:
"It is."

Sam looks suspicious.

Sam:
"Then why are we going into a cave?"

Ezra:
"Because that's where the interesting history is."

PANEL 3 — THE HIDDEN ENTRANCE

Inside the cave, Ezra notices strange markings on the wall.

One symbol looks like a circle surrounded by four smaller symbols.

Ezra:
"I've never seen this symbol before."

Sam shines his phone flashlight on it.

Sam:
"Maybe we should tell someone."

Ezra notices a small gap beneath a loose stone.

PANEL 4 — THE DISCOVERY

Ezra moves the stone.

Behind it is a small ancient chamber.

In the center lies a beautifully preserved parchment scroll.

The parchment has mysterious circular markings.

Sam:
"Okay... THAT definitely wasn't in our assignment."

Ezra carefully picks it up.

PANEL 5 — THE TIME SCROLL

The moment Ezra touches the central symbol—

GLOW!

The markings illuminate with warm golden light.

The symbols begin rotating.

Sam:
"Ezra..."

Ezra:
"I know."

Sam:
"Please tell me ancient scrolls normally do that."

Ezra:
"They don't."

PANEL 6 — ACTIVATION

Ezra places his hand over the central symbol.

Sam instinctively holds the edge of the Scroll.

The symbols rotate faster.

A circular portal of light begins forming around them.

WHOOOOOSH!

Sam:
"I KNEW WE SHOULDN'T HAVE COME IN HERE!"

PANEL 7 — THROUGH TIME

Ezra and Sam are swept through a brilliant tunnel of light.

Around them appear fleeting images:

  • Mountains

  • Ancient cities

  • Desert landscapes

  • Ships

  • Palaces

  • A giant tower

  • A sea

Ezra reaches for Sam.

Ezra:
"Don't let go!"

Sam:
"Wasn't planning to!"

PANEL 8 — ANOTHER WORLD

THUD!

They land on soft grass.

The Time Scroll lies beside them.

The cave is gone.

No roads.

No buildings.

No cars.

Just an enormous ancient landscape.

Sam looks around.

Sam:
"Where are we?"

Ezra picks up the Scroll.

A symbol begins glowing.

PANEL 9 — THE ARK

They hear hammering.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

They follow the sound through the trees.

Then they see it.

A gigantic wooden structure is being constructed.

Ezra's eyes widen.

Ezra:
"Sam..."

Sam:
"No."

Ezra:
"It's an ark."

Sam stares.

Sam:
"You mean... THE Ark?"

PANEL 10 — NOAH

They secretly watch from behind some trees.

Nearby, Noah carefully supervises the construction.

The massive Ark towers above them.

People nearby look confused and dismissive.

Person:
"Why build such a huge vessel here?"

Another person shrugs.

Person:
"Who knows what Noah is thinking?"

Ezra recognizes the story.

Ezra:
"We're in Noah's time."

PANEL 11 — EZRA WANTS TO HELP

Ezra becomes anxious.

Ezra:
"We know what's going to happen."

Sam looks at him.

Sam:
"Yes."

Ezra:
"We should warn them."

Sam immediately shakes his head.

Sam:
"Ezra... we can't."

Ezra:
"But—"

Sam:
"We don't know what changing one little thing could do."

PANEL 12 — THE FIRST RULE

The Time Scroll suddenly glows.

Ancient letters appear across the parchment:

DO NOT CHANGE HISTORY

Ezra reads it silently.

A second message appears:

WITNESS. LEARN. RETURN.

Sam smiles.

Sam:
"Looks like the Scroll agrees with me."

Ezra sighs.

Ezra:
"Fine. We watch."

PANEL 13 — THE ANIMALS

A strange sound comes from the distance.

THUMP... THUMP...

Then another.

Ezra and Sam look up.

Animals begin arriving in pairs.

Birds.

Sheep.

Large animals.

Small animals.

Ezra smiles with amazement.

Ezra:
"It's really happening."

Sam watches a pair of animals walk past.

Sam:
"This is officially the strangest history assignment ever."

PANEL 14 — THE CLOUDS GATHER

Noah and his family prepare to enter the Ark.

Ezra looks toward the sky.

Bright blue begins turning grey.

Wind moves through the trees.

RUMBLE...

Sam looks nervous.

Sam:
"Ezra..."

A single raindrop lands on his hand.

PLOP.

Ezra looks at the Scroll.

The RETURN symbol remains dark.

Ezra:
"We're not going home yet."

PANEL 15 — THE RAIN

Rain begins falling.

At first gently.

Then harder.

People hurry away.

Noah and his family enter the Ark.

Water begins covering the ground.

Ezra and Sam watch from a safe elevated place.

The enormous Ark begins to float.

WHOOSH... SPLASH!

Sam looks at Ezra.

Sam:
"He really trusted the warning."

Ezra nods.

Ezra:
"Even before he could see what was coming."

PANEL 16 — 💡 DID YOU KNOW?

DID YOU KNOW?

According to Genesis 6:14–16, Noah was given detailed instructions for building the Ark, including its dimensions and compartments.

What Ezra learned

Faith means trusting and obeying God even when you cannot yet see the whole picture.

PANEL 17 — RETURN HOME... AND THE NEXT JOURNEY

The Time Scroll suddenly glows.

The word appears:

RETURN

Ezra places his hand on the central symbol.

Sam touches the edge.

WHOOOOOSH!

They land back inside the cave.

For a moment, everything is silent.

Sam looks around.

Sam:
"We're home."

Ezra smiles.

Then the Scroll opens by itself.

The Noah symbol fades.

A new symbol appears:

🏗️ BABEL

Sam's smile disappears.

Sam:
"Wait... we're doing this again?"

Ezra looks at the Scroll.

Ezra:
"Apparently."

Most importantly, Episode 1 is now a complete adventure rather than simply the beginning of a continuous time jump.
