THE 7TH REFLECTION
A Visual Mystery by Forecasterman
Series 1 • Episode 6 • The Night Train
Main Character: Mary ma'am
PANEL 2 — STORY
The railway image on the blue card leads Mary ma'am to an old night train.
The card contains only three clues:
TRAIN 707 • 7:07 PM • PLATFORM 7
Mary boards the train just before departure.
Inside a quiet compartment, she finds a mysterious passenger sitting by the window.
He looks at Mary but says nothing.
A few minutes later, the conductor enters.
Conductor:
“Your ticket, please.”
Mary shows her ticket.
The conductor looks at it strangely.
Conductor:
“This ticket was issued yesterday.”
Mary turns toward the passenger.
His seat is empty.
But his coat and suitcase are still there.
The train is already moving.
Mary looks around the compartment.
Mary ma'am:
“Nobody could have left this train.”
The conductor hands her an old photograph.
Conductor:
“This was taken just before departure.”
Mary compares the photograph with the compartment.
Mary ma'am:
“Then let's see what changed.”
PANEL 3 — BEFORE
BEFORE — 7:07 PM
Show the train compartment before the mysterious passenger disappears.

Newspaper fully open, headline visible
Tea cup and saucer

The passenger is reading the newspaper.
Mary sits opposite him.
The conductor stands near the connecting door.
Conductor:
“Train 707 is ready to depart.”
The passenger glances at Mary.
Mary ma'am:
“Do I know you?”
The passenger gives a mysterious smile but says nothing.
PANEL 4 — AFTER
AFTER — 7:27 PM
Show the exact same compartment from the same viewpoint.
The passenger has disappeared.
His suitcase and coat remain.
The following six differences must be clearly visible:
1. NEWSPAPER
Before: Newspaper fully open, headline visible
After: Newspaper folded in half, large headline hidden.
2. TEA CUP
Before: beside the passenger.
After: moved to the opposite side of the table.
3. POCKET WATCH
Before: closed.
After: open and showing 7:27 PM.
4. TABLE LAMP
Before: pointing toward the passenger.
After: turned toward the connecting door.
5. TRAIN TIMETABLE
Before: showing Platform 7 / Train 707.
After: turned to a page showing the next station: Lighthouse Point.
6. CONNECTING DOOR
Before: completely closed.
After: slightly open.
The small round mirror remains in exactly the same position.
The wall clock now shows 7:27 PM.
Mary looks at the two scenes.
Mary ma'am:
“Six things changed…”
She looks at the empty seat.
Mary ma'am:
“…and the passenger vanished.”
PANEL 5 — THE CLUES
Mary identifies the six visible differences:
1. Newspaper — its fold has changed.
2. Tea cup — moved across the table.
3. Pocket watch — opened and showing 7:27.
4. Table lamp — turned toward the connecting door.
5. Timetable — now reveals Lighthouse Point.
6. Connecting door — slightly open.
Mary follows the direction of the clues.
The lamp points toward the connecting door.
The timetable identifies the next destination.
The passenger's belongings remain behind.
Mary looks into the small round mirror.
THE 7TH REFLECTION
The mirror reflects the connecting door.
In the reflection, Mary can see something that is hidden from her direct view:
The missing passenger is standing in the next carriage.
Mary quickly turns around.
The next carriage appears empty.
She looks back into the mirror.
The passenger is still visible.
He is holding a small photograph of a lighthouse.
Mary ma'am:
“The reflection is showing me where he went.”
She opens the connecting door.
PANEL 6 — STORY RESOLUTION
Mary enters the next carriage.
There is nobody there.
On a small table she finds a blue glass fragment and a folded railway ticket.
She picks up the ticket.
It reads:
NEXT STOP: LIGHTHOUSE POINT
On the back is the familiar:
7:07
Mary recognizes the seven-point symbol beside it.
Mary ma'am:
“The painting. The diamond. The locked room. The clock. The empty room…”
She looks at the ticket.
Mary ma'am:
“And now this train.”
The conductor approaches.
Conductor:
“Who was that man?”
Mary looks through the window.
For a moment, she sees the mysterious passenger's reflection in the glass.
He is standing beside a lighthouse.
Mary turns around.
Nobody is there.
She looks back at the window.
Only the dark night remains.
FINAL CAPTION
Six mysteries. Six differences. One reflection.
And now the trail leads to the sea.
Mary places the ticket in her notebook.
Mary ma'am:
“Lighthouse Point. That's where I'm going next.”
